Azman University Kano obtained its provisional license to operate as a Private University on 15th May, 2023. JOB POSITION: NETWORK ENGINEER

 

JOB LOCATION: KANO

 

JOB BRIEF

Responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring and managing the organization's local and wide area networks to ensure maximum uptime for users. The role can include designing system configurations, documenting and managing the installation of a new network, and maintaining and upgrading existing systems as necessary

 

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITES

• Designing and implementing new network solutions and/or improving the efficiency of current networks

• Installing, configuring, and supporting network equipment including routers, proxy servers, switches, WAN accelerators, DNS, and DHCP

• Procuring network equipment and managing subcontractors involved with network installation

• Configuring firewalls, routing and switching to maximize network efficiency and security

• Maximizing network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting

• Arranging scheduled upgrades

• Investigating faults in the network

• Updating network equipment to the latest firmware releases

• Reporting network status to key stakeholders

 

KEY SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

• Minimum of bachelor’s degree computer science or related field.

• At least 3 years of proven experience in network administration roles

• Ability to think critically and solve complex problems

• Knowledge of networking services and common networking protocols.

• Hands on experience in routing and switching.

• Experience with wireless network deployments

• Excellent knowledge of best practices around management, control, and monitoring of server infrastructure.

• Skills in Linux operating system is required

• Relevant Networking Certification is an advantage.

• Good knowledge of the Nigerian ISP landscape

• Strong team player in a multidisciplinary environment

• Excellent communications skills with fluency in English Language
